From Separation to Growth – Financial support for divorcees

This program is tailored for divorcees and includes group courses for divorced women and men (separately) to help participants cope with economic aspects of divorce and managing an independent household budget.

This population faces many unique challenges resulting from their complex personal situation. One of the biggest challenges is maintaining the family’s financial stability and/or achieving financial independence (sometimes for the first time in their lives). This program was developed to address these challenges.

Program Objective

Divorced men and women participating in the program will improve their long-term financial independence and stability, employment stability, and parental communication with their children and ex-spouse.

Background

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, the overall divorce rate in Israel is about 27%, and there is a significant increase in the percentage of divorced people in the population. Additionally, it was found that compared to married couples, divorced individuals are less satisfied with their financial situation, feel poorer, make more sacrifices of food and prescription medications due to financial difficulties, express less optimism, and feel lonelier.

Therefore, Paamonim initiated a program that provides a holistic response tailored to the divorced population.

Program Structure

The program combines two components: One is group meetings that allow participants to receive support and consult with peers in a group where they feel legitimate to share financial and personal difficulties. The second is individual guidance providing personalized solutions to each participant’s unique situation.

* 13 group meetings focused on three life axes: financial, occupational, and familial.

* Personalized guidance in one or more of the above axes.

Target Audience

The program is intended for divorced men and women, aged 20-55, with earning capacity, with at least one child under 18, who have the motivation and readiness to create profound change in their lives.
