The counseling process includes identifying the need and motivation of each of the applicants, providing an initial professional response and referral for the most appropriate continued assistance.

Prerequisites for the position

• About 2.5 hours are available for volunteering per week, at a fixed time
• Background in the field of family economics
• Experience in diagnosing / conducting personal interviews
• Basic technological skills (using a computer)

Mandatory requirements for joining

• Personal adjustment interview pass
• A mandatory course that includes comprehensive training of 9 hours • Participation in professional training from time to time and team meetings once per quarter

It is important that you have…

• High oral expression ability, pleasant and encouraging voice
• The abilities of inclusion and empathy combined with the abilities of persuasion and influence
• Willingness to learn and open-mindedness, ability to identify needs, gather information and use judgment to make an informed optimal decision

During the volunteering you will have at your disposal:

• A team leader who will provide you with guidance and support for any matter that may arise during volunteering
• A team of experts for assistance in various fields such as legal, financial, emotional and more

Is it possible to be both a guidance counselor and a family guide?

As a general rule, we do not recommend volunteering in two positions at the same time, but there are exceptional situations depending on experience and appropriate training.

Apart from the orientation calls, is another activity required, which is not by telephone?

Once or twice a year there are regional team meetings, and about twice a year an evening meeting of all the volunteers in the orientation field.

Is there an added value to volunteering in the orientation field? After all, this is only an initial conversation and not the actual escort

In many cases, the guidance conversation adds motivation and encourages the family to participate in the process and receive our assistance in practice, so that a professional guidance counselor who conducts the conversation in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere and is accurate in understanding the family’s needs, correctly diagnoses which service to refer her to and can greatly influence her integration in receiving a response.
